Dr. Gorecki graduated from the Israeli Institute of Technology, Haifa and received his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science, 1972. Subsequently, he spent three years as a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge. Returning to the Weizmann Institute in 1996, he was appointed an associate professor and worked in the Institute until 1982. In 1980, as part of the founding team of Bio-Technology General (Rehovot, Israel) he was responsible for the technical, scientific and product development programs of the Company as a Chief Technical Officer and later as a Managing Director of Bio-Technology General Ltd,. He led the Company in developing and registering many biotechnology products 5 of which are sold worldwide. Dr. Gorecki had an overall responsibility for BTG Ltd., with over 200 employees primarily engaged in research and development, manufacturing of the Company's genetically engineered products, technical business development and customer service activities relating to certain of BTG's partners and products. His scientific activities focused on the fields of molecular biology, genetic engineering and peptide and protein chemistry. He has authored and co-authored over 80 publications and many patents. Professor Gorecki took early retirement from BTG and In 1999-2007 become CEO of Mediwound Ltd., a company developing debriding agent for burns, which is now in Phase III clinical trial. He is presently a consultant to SciGen and to the Clal Biotechnology Industries.
